What's the holdup in getting rid of this one? Is it something about the formatting of reports here?

I'd really like it if Userscripts.org could add some anti-spam features. I get heaps of spam whenever I update my script.

There are some clear patterns in the spammers messages. Couldn't these words/phrases be added to some sort of blocklist for users with less than 10 posts?
- "Handbags(Coach,ed hardy,lv,d&g)"
- "Jean(True Religion,ed hardy,coogi)"
- "lv,gucci,handbag"
- "Cheapest VANS Shoes"
- Posts where every bit of text is in a link. No plain text.
- One spammer keeps coming back with similar usernames. "hjof89afa", "hgifd78sa9", "hjifodsa89", etc.

@ameboide and @marti I agree. Spent some time tonight looking for pattern. I think this is a bot and the "user" follows right behind a spammer.

Monkeys - please PM me with your vote:

1 - It's a bot. Ban user and IP! Give 'em the horn!
2 - Wait and see.
3 - No! We can't kill fellow monkeys even though they made 40 incoherent forum posts!

@Sunnytom,
The site doesn't use BBCode... just post it directly... preferably like "username posted this spam"

We need to be able to remove silly humans as well as silly bots. Especially when it is impossible to tell them apart.

Everyone is "silly" at one time or another... that includes you and me... so I'm a -1 for this idea. The thumbs up/down on posts and perhaps topics would be sufficient to show/hide them from whatever interface is used to view them. If I'm interested in seeing what is behind the curtain, so to speak, I usually click show. :) I would vote for #3 if this was in place.

Does Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down require a script? Oh, maybe we're looking different places, I'm looking at /topics/* posts.

Sorry my english is so bad I just copy paste from his informative review with some addition :
Yes please Hagrid, Jefferson, tell me the best to do now because I’m quite fed up of the agressivity (of Marti) raising in few minutes on such a trivial thing.
I missed this question when it was posted.

I think it's very indelicate going to other people's scripts and posting "mine's better". I have been tempted a few times when I thought other users might benefit, but haven't done it.

Here's why: All you have to do is ask "does 'try my script' actually answer the poster's question"? It almost never does; it almost always is self-promotion that doesn't fulfill the request.

In this case, someone asked Marti to add a menu item to that script. It's hard to see how your post was responsive to that request. Whether that makes the post "spam" (a term with a very flexible definition) or a little faux pas (violation of internet etiquette), is in the eye of the beholder.

I don't think your account should be removed. But hopefully you see why Marti found your comment objectionable.

I don't believe so. The vote count would need to be stored server side on USO like it is with the blog pages. Those have thumbs up/down as well as reviews yes/no is a form of that. It would be nice to see that with topics and discuss pages... but it's more important imho to implement the external URI captcha and nofollow first on new/edit since this covers in and out of USO for bandwidth preservation... then move the voting into the public/private discussions/topics to handle these nonsensical posts.

Thank you for removing some of this users posts but ghujif7ds8a is still adding spam to to userscripts, 15 in the last 6 hours.
Can you please remove his account.
A search on the internet for ghujif7ds8a will reveal hundreds of spam posts. All links are via a shortened url's.
It is time userscripts got to grips with this and added something to stop this. Just removing posts / accounts, while helpful is not the answer.
Report a spam user via a button with drop down options would speed the process up.
