https://userscripts-mirror.org/users/382531 is a spammer. I just saw his spam review on this script:

Thanks for finding spammers. Honestly guys, we have an average of 600 new users a day and over 2.5 million unique visitors a month. We already have anti-spam features in place, but some folks do sneak through, usually no more than 10 users a day. This does not mean its not annoying and disruptive and we thank you for posting the users.

Fighting spammers is a cold war. Re-CAPTCHA is one idea to fight spammers among the options out there. Right now, we are hesitant to add tools like Re-CAPTCHA everytime users want to comment, review, add a topic, etc. Tools like this could be seen as burdensome for the entire community for an average of 10 spammers. We are looking into putting in other measures, like limiting the number of comments, posts, topics, and reviews per new user for a defined time period instead. Suggestions are welcome.

Also, please just identify the spammer, much like the format Marti and Jefferson use. We investigate each case and worried we are setting the incorrect expectation of we will delete a user because they are listed here. In a very small number of cases, we get false positives or scriptwriters who may not agree with a review or comment so then identify a user as a spammer.

Many thanks!

Cheers,
Unicorn

You mean "User Posted This Spam"? I don't know how to do that

@sparkybigp,

I'm going to attempt to try to get sizzles script working fully in other browsers in between my projects (although I haven't tested it at all in those browsers and this is going to take quite some time since certain GM methods don't exist in those)... but right now that script formats reports this way for Mozilla products like Firefox and Seamonkey. It also helps to prevent duplicates and manage them on your end until you are ready to actually submit all the reports at once.

In the interim install Firefox and GM with that script or uso - Anchor Bookmarks should expose a way to copy a bookmark from a particular post, comment or review and do it manually with HTML. The rest of the links are already exposed like the user_id (although it is the vanity name in some cases) and of course whatever is in your address bar.

@Unicorn,
That topic is one of those "empty topics" that someone replied to so it didn't get removed.

For everyone else,
In general please don't reply to spammers... just do a report.

Marti thanks. Cleaned up. ~unicorn

zhongkiu and bnlfdsia0 spammed a review. Both of the spams are on the same script. https://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/reviews/6155

Admins: Please implement a better anti-spam mechanism!
PLEASE block these repeat-spammers by IP Address or posting behavior!
You should create a system to automatically suspend or soft-delete users (spammers) with multiple identical posts. Only illegitimate users would make multiple posts with identical content directly after creating a new user account. If necessary, to prevent false positives, a sort of Karma feature could be setup similar to the Karma points system featured on the uservoice forum.

I can spot spam all day! theres too much. Where are the admins?
I don't want to waste space but you need to block people from posting links to websites. It would prevent lots of spam because all the spam are links to websites. Spammers are coming in and they spam 1 script with two spam reviews and disscussion. Can you block the user name "lsla##" or "lals##" or something that has l s l a mixed up. They keep coming back. You guys need anti-spam really bad!!

@sparkybigp and @alex35 We feel your pain. We tossed the idea around if we block users with certain usernames, spammers will just piclk another username. Again, you'd be surprised the number that is kept out. It's a cold war. Thanks for notifying us. Rather than hard coding rules for 10 spammers, we want to somehow empower the community so we can concentrate on keeping the site running for our users.

What we want to do is put the power in the hands of the community.

We have been working on a system that lets people flag posts/people as spammers. If the community agrees the reporters karma goes up. If the community disagrees, the reporters karma gets cut in half. If community doesn't have a clear consensus on whether a user/post is spam, then admins will intervene and with the help of community to decide.

We want to empower the community without leading to wars over the gray areas.

Are you capable of doing a "selective" reCAPTCHA? Making new users enter a reCAPTCHA for their first 10 posts/reviews/comments (while making it very clear that it is only for their first 10 posts/reviews/comments) would cut down on the majority of spam, no?

I think using a system that reads links in a users first 10 posts would stop most spam so if a user posts 3 links the same in there first 10 posts the user is automatically deleted but the posts recorded so if the user has not posted spam they just contact an admin who could check posts and re open the account if not spam.

Another "selective" reCAPTCHA option would be if there are links in a post that aren't on a whitelist (say from here, MDN, greasespot, etc.), trigger a reCAPTCHA.

What I guess I'm not getting from this whole thing is why must it be "all or nothing." Why can't you implement a partial solution as I've mentioned? It burdens the least amount of people (only new posters and only for the first few posts) while still providing similar power as a full-on reCAPTCHA on everything.
