the user that "created" (and I use that term loosely) this script

https://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/show/33131

user is: Swarnava/Heaven GOD

he assigns tags used for other popular script subjects to his script so it gets more traffic. For example he uses the keyword glb, which is used to tag scripts for an online football game.

I say we delete him. All he does is take other scripts, upload copies to his page, gives himself semi-copyright. He just wants to be popular but everyone really hates him, and he doesn't actually contribute any code; he can hardly speak english let alone script anything useful.

Do you have an actual DMCA complaint or are you just being a Lemming and following the witch hunt?

Funny... seems like you've been in that boat as well and so has sizzlemctwizzle and a few other key players here on uso... should we ban anyone who brings things together?

I will say for the last time... He is learning at his own pace not what anyone else thinks is appropriate. If I were to have this kind of bad attitude about the community here (e.g. be impatient with the lack of learning skills found here) I would be shunned... so don't be "dicks" as it's getting really old.

If he doesn't give credit to a source note it as such in the issues tab... when I get around to his pages in my rounds I will read it and either disagree or agree.

Well I hardly think that comment's fair. I believe that peteb's complaint looks valid and it is just the lemmings who saw that the user was Swarnava/Heaven GOD that peteb's talking about and jumped on it. I believe it has been discussed elsewhere, but the tags system is open to abuse and maybe this should be addressed. Now perhaps the first comment is a little below the belt, as it were, but from what I have read most of the code in the script in question wasn't exactly created by that user, but rather largely transcribed so it is roughly true (and I don't want to enter into an argument on this point, I am merely stating my interpretation of the situation).

JoeSimmons wrote:

This said though, comments like this are entirely unnecessary. I don't mean to single this particular post out (I know there have been much worse), but there is far too much negative feelings flying around when it comes to this issue. How much does it affect you really? I browse this site almost every day but if it wasn't for all of this petty bitching in the forums about this user, I don't believe I would have come across this user at all.

From what I can see the user may be an annoyance to those people who think that their code has been unfairly copied, but that user is not actually doing anything wrong in a lawful sense; if he does then I'm sure a genuine grievance could be sorted out in some way. Perhaps people are annoyed at themselves because they hadn't considered that their code may be used in this way legally?

So I don't see why people find it so necessary to be so damn rude to him; this is still an actual person with feelings that we're talking about. How does this even affect anyone anyhow? I learned pretty quickly that if someone annoys me on the internet then I'm the only person who's really losing. If it really bothers you, then can't you just ignore it and carry on with your life?

Well, maybe not delete, that was too strong of a word. But his scripts are basically useless, you could just install each of the scripts separately. I don't see how he's learning by copy-pasting multiple scripts together.

None.

You don't live in America, huh? There are places where people just beat the shit out of eachother everyday for no reason; surely stating my opinion on the internet can't be that rude. I'm just saying there's no need for his scripts, and I think he should make his own instead of copy-pasting other people's scripts together.

Well no I don't live in America, but you should come visit London, or various other parts of the UK if you think America has a monopoly on that sort of place; I'm sure every country/city has very shitty parts, but that shouldn't mean that every website/forum should do though. I would like to think of this place as being a very welcoming, kind forum on the whole.

JoeSimmons wrote:

Well that's almost definitely true, but I'm sure there are other examples where people have compiled several scripts to make one better script and it's been well received; just look at the [Better Gmail](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6076) add-on, for example.

if you look at my post it was directed at how he uses tags (not related to his script) to drive up his traffic (leeching), you took something else I said and blew it out of proportion for your own witch hunt. It just pisses me off that I get driven to his scripts when searching on other totally unrelated subjects.

wrong again, everything I've done that's a modification of another script I add my own original code and then post it with all of credit up front to where it goes. I don't just copy/paste things together and repost it as my own. Nor do I make constant non-edit edits to my code to drive up it's presence.

You really seem to be daft on the context here... we aren't talking about you not to mention this wasn't addressed to you. (My point has been proven and thank you for that) :)

Thanks for answering the question albeit indirectly... perhaps there is hope for you yet... this is already addressed elsewhere... did you search first? (I think not) :)

You try to make it about others to turn it (unsuccessfully) around and when called on it you somehow think I'm daft? hahaha

Seems that the only weapons you have is your smug elitism (internet cops unite!) and name calling/put downs. Stay classy boy.

I'm curious at what your justification for this libelous statement is... please elaborate in the appropriate forum. My contributions have always been in my own "branch" so your accusation is without merit as usual.

Speaking of trolls... How are you? Did you really think that I haven't been honest and told everyone here about the misgivings of the dev group? (rhetorical question) Bringing this back on topic peteb (as do you) needs to disguise personal character assassinations better. Cheers! :)

Maybe you could store the time a user accesses https://userscripts-mirror.org/messages/new along side authenticity_token and when they post to https://userscripts-mirror.org/messages you could compare the current time with the stored time. Since bots take almost no time between getting the authenticity_token and sending the message, whereas real users have to take time to type a message you should be able to catch bots red-handed. You'd probably only need a delay of a few seconds. Obviously sending one message too quickly shouldn't be grounds for account deletion because a user can copy and paste something pretty quickly. But you could store the number of times a user gets flagged and you could look at the messages they sent to see if they are spamming and then delete the user.
